CHANGE

THE

GAME

Sports, when done right, are one of the best teachers we have.

They place people inside real environments where standards matter, effort is visible, and progress is earned. They teach how to commit to a team, how to be coached, how to practice with intention, and how to respond when things don’t go your way. They make responsibility tangible and accountability unavoidable.

More than any speech or lesson, sport shows people who they are becoming through the environments and teams they choose. The habits learned there - discipline, resilience, trust, and care for others - form a foundation that carries far beyond the game.

For athletes, business is often the first real test of whether the lessons of sport will survive outside the game.

Many step into organizations that look nothing like the teams that shaped them. Purpose is misaligned. Standards are unclear. Leadership is reactive. Coaching is rare. Incentives reward individual behavior, and people work hard - but rarely together.

Organizations struggle for the same reasons. Most failures in business aren’t strategic mistakes, but human system breakdowns. Talent is present. Effort is real. Yet teams never truly operate as teams.

Elite sports organizations solve this through alignment - clear purpose, shared standards, strong leadership, real coaching, and accountability to one another. When businesses operate the same way, teams reach their full potential.

Money is a tool. It creates freedom of choice - where we spend our time, who we spend it with, and what we choose to prioritize. When money becomes the goal, it takes those choices away.

What matters is how we show up for the people who depend on us. How we lead our families. How we invest our time. What we pass on through our actions, not our words.

We get to choose how and where we spend our time - at work, in our relationships, and in our communities. Those choices shape the lives we live and the examples we set. Making them deliberately is how we create fulfillment for ourselves and stability, opportunity, and care for the people who come after us.
